Meet Pepper!

Meet Pepper!

Seconds away from death, we rescued our new puppy "Pepper" and gave her new life and hope.

Meet our newest addition to our rather large family: Pepper! We weren't planning on getting a new puppy — our family is quite big enough already. However, my wife was at a rural animal shelter checking for Siamese cats to transport to the Siamese Rescue Center. She didn't find any Siamese, but a shelter staffer was carrying this poor puppy back to the room where they euthanize the many animals they get who are never adopted. Pepper, who only had a number, not a name, was shaking and whimpering as if she knew what was going to happen. However, Maria, tears in her eyes, quickly snatched this puppy away and cried out: "I'll take her!" And so, we have yet another addition to our family. But honestly, who wouldn't have done the same thing in the same situation? And after looking at these pictures, I think you will agree she did the right thing.

Pepper explores the backyard. Sure beats the animal shelter cages!

Chewing is fun! Pepper chews anything around, but we are trying hard to teach her to chew toys, not humans!

Ahhh, this is the life! A comfy pillow and my new mommy!

Hey, wait ... where did everyone go?

Pepper meets Cooper. Pepper loves to play with Cooper. She also likes to try to bite his big beagle ears, which Cooper isn't too wild about!

What's that you're trying to do? Take a picture? Hey... what's that dangling from the camera? Another chew toy? It's mine!!!!

Steps are difficult for a little puppy - Pepper whined and whined the first time down, but she's getting the hang of it!

How can anyone resist this face? Such innocence.... (yeah, right!)

Time for a nap. See you all later!
