A rough, sometimes terrifying bus ride up a very narrow steep dirt road far up a mountain leads to a beautiful monastery. In the background, you can see the world's largest outdoor Buddha.

An inside look at the Monastery gardens, with the oval entrance. I almost took a picture of one of the monks, with bright orange robes and shaved head, but remembered that they do not allow their pictures to be taken. Out of respect for their traditions, I have no pictures of the monks.

One of the many beautiful buildings that are part of this sprawling Monastery.

The monks brought us into this hall for lunch. Since they are vegetarian, and don't go shopping at a local market, the food we had was mostly mushrooms and fungus and the like that grows around the area. Sounds gross, but it tasted pretty good!

A shot of me at the gates in front of the Monastery.
